1. ARCHIE ANDREWS

Archie Andrews was created in 1941 as a comic book character by artist Bob Montana, writer Vic Bloom, and publisher John L. Goldwater.
Along with Archie, we were introduced to his parents (Mary and Fred), his best friend (Jughead Jones), and his love-interests (Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper) and a host of other characters. Their popularity spread to radio, daily newspapers, television, cartoons, film, and popular music.
The radio show ran from 1943 to 1953 – the Golden Age of Radio Drama. Our Christmas Show was originally broadcast on December 13, 1947, as “mass confusion results when Archie and his parents and all his friends go Christmas shopping at the same time in the same department store.”
2. MY FRIEND IRMA

My Friend Irma was broadcast on CBS Radio from 1947 to 1954. Its success spawned films, television, a comic strip and a comic book. Irma was played by Marie Wilson throughout.
Each episode began with Irma’s 20-something level-headed roommate Jane relating another adventure/misadventure of the “scatterbrained stenographer from Minnesota.” They usually involved their Irish landlady, Irma’s deadbeat boyfriend Al, or the Russian professor who lived upstairs.
Our episode, originally produced on Christmas Day 1950, follows the misadventures of “everyone’s favorite, loveable blonde” as she prepares to throw a Christmas shindig, only to learn that the only guest is her!
3. FATHER KNOWS BEST

Father Knows Best began as a radio show in 1949, following the lives of the Andersons, a middle-class family living in the American midwestern town of Springfield (hello, Simpsons!)
The radio show with a sarcastic tone ran during the Golden Age of Radio Drama until 1954, when it switched to television with all new cast members (except for Robert Young) and a more “wholesome” family attitude.
Our Christmas Show was first broadcast on Christmas eve, 1953, when the family has unique ideas to celebrate it. As Father says: “Margaret, believe me, this is going to be a Christmas none of us will ever forget.”
